The glass is the easy half. The cameras are the job.
A Tesla windshield is a large, heavily raked, acoustically laminated pane, and on most of the range it sits directly under the forward camera housing. Get the glass wrong and you get wind noise and distortion; get the camera position wrong and you get a car that will not hold a lane. That is why most shops that will happily quote you a Tesla windshield will not quote you the calibration in the same breath.
We do both here. The replacement and the camera recalibration happen in the same building, on the same appointment, on our own equipment, so the car leaves with its driver-assistance cameras aimed where the manufacturer's procedure says they should be. You are not handed a referral and a second appointment across town.
Tell us the model, the year and whether the car has a heated windshield or a head-up display, and we will confirm the correct glass and whether your car's procedure needs a static setup, a road calibration or both. Step 1: Confirm the model and the glass
Model, year and options decide the pane: acoustic laminate, heated elements, a head-up display, the camera housing and the rain and light sensors all have to match.
Step 2: Remove without damaging the trim
The cowl, the camera cover and the moulding come off rather than out. Tesla trim is unforgiving of a shop in a hurry.
Step 3: Set and bond the new pane
The replacement is set to the manufacturer's bonding requirements and given its specified safe drive-away time, which we tell you before you plan your day.
Step 4: Recalibrate the cameras here
The forward camera array is recalibrated in our own bay to the procedure the car requires, and the system is checked before the car is handed back.

No. You have the right to choose who repairs your vehicle, including on an insurance claim. What matters is that the shop uses the correct glass and can recalibrate the forward cameras afterwards, which is the part most independents send out. We do that work in-house.
